As our teaching is innovative, so is our philosophy. We aim to develop:
A love of music and piano playing by ensuring learning 'makes sense' and is presented in bite sized, achievable steps, starting with sound first and moving to reading music later. Just like how children learn to speak before reading.
Independent learning by making links between all elements of music to enable our students to apply existing knowledge to new situations and pieces.
Breadth and depth of repertoire - by teaching our students many pieces at an appropriate level, ensuring they understand what they are playing and helping them communicate musically.
Ensuring our teachers undertake regular professional development to keep teaching fresh and up to date.
Where appropriate we use the exam system, but our teaching is not bound by this and passing exams is not our raison d'etre.
