Children aged 3-5 are really too young to benefit from 1:1 piano lessons as they don't yet have a sense of the beat, understanding of rhythm or have developed their singing voices (find out more about why this is so important at our blog post on what good music teaching looks like). From September 2019 Surrey Music School is offering Mini Musicians for those families who want their child to experience music, but are too young to benefit from 1:1 piano (or other instrumental) lessons. Once children have completed this course they will be far better placed to benefit from more formal instrumental lessons.
Mini Musicians offers a magical introduction to music and the piano for children aged 3-5 and will launch in September 2019. Children sing, listen, move to music, play games and explore the piano through improvisation. The programme provides a wonderful foundation for children to move into formal piano lessons after the year or any other instrument as the core musical skills of keeping a beat, reading rhythm and understanding pitch will have been developed.
Please check back here for updates or express interest through the contact form. Classes will be on a Wednesday afternoon in either Chertsey or Guildford depending on demand.
