Learn to read music for beginners - new course in Guildford for adults
I often speak to adults who tell me that reading music is 'really hard' - well, it doesn't have to be! When taught well it is as natural as speaking your mother tongue. Surrey Music School is in the process of developing a class especially for adults who have always wanted to learn to read music, or who have tried in the past but just found it too hard and not got very far.
Music theory will be taught through really fun games from Music Mind Games (just because we're all grown up now doesn't mean we can't still enjoy games!). If you can play an instrument there will also be opportunities to play what you have composed. If not we have some glockenspiels and probably a piano available and of course the group can always sing what you've written! If you're not into singing don't worry, it's not a prerequisite although it is very useful - imagine if you tried to learn a foreign language without actually using your voice - it would be pretty hard! We will always sing as a group so don't worry about singing solo.
If you've always wanted to learn to read music please submit your details below and we'll be in touch when more information is available.
